APPAREL IMPACT INSTITUTE (Aii) SHARES REPORT ON LOW-CARBON THERMAL ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY. This report, commissioned by Aii and authored by Global Efficiency Intelligence, evaluates six low-carbon heating solutions and explores their challenges, feasibility and transition potential for the textile industry. Aii RELEASES BRAND PLAYBOOK FOR FINANCING DECARBONIZATION. This new resource outlines 12 financial strategies that brands can use to encourage producers to invest in carbon reduction projects. It includes real-world examples, assesses the risks and benefits of each approach, and recognizes the need for tailored strategies across different brands and retailers.
Aii ANNOUNCES CLIMATE SOLUTIONS PORTFOLIO GRANTEES. The latest grantees – Amphico, Grant Thornton and Pozzi – developed solutions in waterless textile coloration, synthetic lubricants and electrification from wastewater heat recovery. Their innovations were selected based on their effectiveness, reach, scale and ability to address unique supply chain challenges.
TEXTILE EXCHANGE RELEASES FOREST AND AIR POLLUTION RISK CATEGORIES TO ITS MATERIALS IMPACT EXPLORER (MIE) TOOL. The MIE tool helps brands, retailers, and suppliers examine the potential impacts and dependencies of their raw materials in the country where the farm, forests or initial production facilities are based. The tool now includes risk ratings and recommendations for forest and air pollution and manmade cellulosic fibers as a material category. Many organizations contributed to the latest expansion of the tool, including Fashion Convener members Aii and ZDHC. SEPTEMBER 25: FINANCING FASHION’S DECARBONIZATION INITIATIVES. During Climate Week NYC, The Fashion Pact and two of its members – Tapestry, Inc. and J.Crew Group – are co-hosting an event to bring finance, brand, sustainability and decarbonization specialists together to explore how innovative finance models are helping to accelerate the solutions needed to achieve a net-zero fashion industry. The session is invite-only for executives working in sustainability- and finance-related topics connected to the fashion sector.
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 25: ZDHC REGIONAL CONFERENCE – SOUTH ASIA. This year’s theme is ‘Creating a Culture of Sustainable Management in the Fashion Industry’. (Chennai, India + Virtual)

OCTOBER 28-31: 2024 TEXTILE EXCHANGE CONFERENCE. This annual conference is a space for leaders and experts from across the global fashion, textile and apparel industry to collaboratively explore challenges and solutions to overcome the climate crisis. Discover the three-day agenda, which will explore why integrating best practices for climate and nature at the raw materials level is an investment in business resilience.
